An original Navajo sandpainting by listed New Mexican artist Wilson Price Sr., titled Yei-Bey-Chai. These paintings are traditionally made by pouring tinted sands or powders onto adhesive surfaces to form uniquely textured images and patterns and were created ritualistically to carry out certain purposes, such as healing the sick or encouraging the growth of crops. This particular image depicts a dancing Yei figure wearing an ornate costume while he, according to a note to the verso, performs a major winter curing ceremony. The piece is unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation. The artist’s name and address are signed to the verso of the piece’s board.

- to fair. Light wear to edges of board. Significant scratching and accretion on pieces’s pale background.
