A Boston UP-118E upright piano designed by Steinway & Sons. This piano features a close sitka spruce tapered soundboard. The cabinet has a mahogany polished veneer, mahogany foot-piece soundboard lining and backboard, mahogany posts, fill-blocks and backboard. The Octagrip™ pinblock is made hard rock maple, with spruce ribs. The treble bridge is solid maple, and the bass bridge is solid maple. The piano has an overstrung scale, with 38,415 lb tension. The plate is cast from grey iron, bronze-painted and lacquered, and vacuum cast. Tuning pins are nickel-plated steel. The hammers are wool topfelt over wool underfelt mahogany moldings, and the hammer-shanks are made of resilient maple or horn-beam. The action is solid maple with aluminum action rails. The keys are spruce, individually balanced and weighted, and the key covers are synthetic ivory and ebony.The keybed is made from laminated hardwood, and the keyframe is spruce with hardwood inserts. The pedals board includes soft, sustaining, and muffler pedals. The piano has a professional music desk with two-position upper panel, and rolls on solid brass casters. Also included is the accompanying piano bench with a hinged top and storage compartment with mahogany veneer.
