An absolutely fascinating catalog from Sotheby’s 1997 auction of the private and public collections from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, held in New York. Two large volumes in a hard sleeve chronicling the sale of items from incredible jewelry to furniture, paintings, photographs, silver, porcelains and even the Duke’s golf socks. Also included is the list of realized sale prices. The Duke of course holds our fascination after abdicating the throne of England to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson. Both catalogs offer dozens of personal notes and photographs.
