1891 Singer Treadle Sewing Machine Sphinx Design

Item Details

An 1891 Singer treadle sewing machine, with flip down hiding space. Housed in an ornately carved, wooden cabinet with four drawers. This iron, black sewing machine, is ornately decorated in a gold gilt Egyptian theme, boasting of winged sphinxes, and lotus flowers. Very Art Nouveau, with an Egyptian Revival theme appropriate to the trends of that era. The cast iron, open work bottom has the ‘Singer’ spelled out in it’s center. This is a fully functioning machine, and Singer medallion is affixed to the front of the machine. Comes with a later vintage notions box.

Condition

-Very good for age, working order is also good. Wear such as oxidation and minor scratching and wear to the gold gilt design, is normal for age and use. Well kept piece.
