Sixteen 1981 Tanenbaum for Shell Oil Football Prints
Item Details
A lot of sixteen lithographic reproductions of drawings by an artist named Tanenbaum, created as part of a 1981 promotional series created by Shell Oil and the National Football League. The prints all depict sketchy drawings of famous football players of the time in action. The artist’s signature is printed in-plate to each print, and most have descriptive titles printed in the lower margin. Eleven of these sixteen prints are the exact same image, titled Archie Griffin Heads Upfield for Big Gain. The other five are each unique. The prints are presented in a burgundy paperboard sleeve with ‘Art Collectors Club’ printed to its face.
Condition
- prints themselves are in great condition, aside from a few very small scuffs to edges. Folio that holds prints has significant wear and ripping.
