Vintage Chinese Hand-Painted Silk Hanging Scroll
Item Details
A vintage 20th-century hand-painted Chinese hanging scroll. The stunningly detailed piece depicts a sprawling Chinese landscape, featuring rolling mountains, twisting trees, and several open-air buildings housing groups of figures. They are painted in watercolor on silk, mounted to a cream silk brocade backed with paper. There is a title and artist’s inscription, followed by a red seal in the upper left corner. There is also a handwritten inscription and red seal on the verso. Wooden rods are attached to the bottom and top of the scroll to give it weight. A small rope is attached to the top of the piece to hang it and to wrap it when rolled shut.
