Charles H. Overly Hand-colored Offset Lithograph "The Wren Building"

Item Details

A hand-colored offset lithograph by listed artist Charles H. Overly (1908-1970), of the Wren Building in Williamsburg, VA. The signature structure of the College of William and Mary, the Wren Building was constructed in 1700 and went through many fires and rebuildings before being completely renovated by W.A.R. Goodwin and John D. Rockefeller in the late 1920’s. Wide-reaching trees dot the lush front lawn of the featured brick red building, its facade covered in small, gridded windows, some propped open in hopes of a breeze. Signed in plate to lower right, this work is mounted beneath a layer of sage mat and is presented behind glass in a beveled silver and gold toned frame. Hanging wire present to verso.
