Antique Brass Campaign/Expedition Monocular Microscope

An antique portable monocular ‘drum’ microscope. Also known as a campaign or expedition microscope, this very fine 19th century instrument was often used in scientific exploration and travel. It has a copper tube on a large brass hinge with a stationary stage. The microscope has a wooden box with a hinged lid with two hook and eye clasp, metal tweezers, and with several glass slides, one slide with original specimen in it, and labeled ‘Poils de fougon’, a french phrase that translates to ‘bristle fougon’ or natural brush bristles in English.

Normal wear for age and usage.
