An original folk art painting titled Marie Laveau by highly regarded Folk artist, Saint James Boudreaux, known for ‘painted obituaries.’ This piece is the obituary for the Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau. Featured text on the piece reads, ‘Marie Laveau, Voodoo Queen. Died June 16, 1882 New Orleans, LA. Buried in St Louis #1 Cemetery. Mam’ Zelle Widow Paris was waked at home at 152 St. Ann Street. A mass of Christian burial was held at St Louis Cathedral. ‘Marie the Sainted’ was a member of Society of Ladies with Tignons and Ponsiniera.’
