Attributed to Philip Hermogenes Calderon Oil on Canvas Painting

A signed painting attributed to well-known artist, Philip Hermogenes Calderon (1833-1898) by Richard Burmood of the American Society of Appraisers. Calderon was an English painter born in France of Spanish ancestry. Calderon worked in the the Pre-Raphaelite style before moving towards historical genre later in life. The piece is untitled and depicts a a young woman sitting in a chair holding a wrap in front of her while one breast becomes slightly exposed. The piece is faintly signed ‘P.H. Calderon’ to the lower left. It is presented in an antique wood frame with an ivory finish; ready to hang.
