Item Details
A handwoven silk Kashan area rug for indoor use. The rug features a large central medallion with elaborate floral pendants in aqua, orange, pale reds and yellow, surrounded by a field of ornate carnations and other varieties of flowers in the same palette on a dark black-blue field. The contrasting ivory spandrels repeat the pattern, and the rug has a complex compound floral border, including a primary border in bright red with floral and foliate pattern and large palmettes in complementary colors. It has a long, dense silk fringe to either end. Unmarked.
