Carl Joseph Bauer Signed Etching

Item Details

A signed etching by Germany painter and etcher Carl Joseph Bauer (1897-1989). This depicts a bedroom scene, where a female figure, kneeling on the edge of the bed is pull a male figure by his half removed clothing. It is a surreal dark scene, with large proportions heavily inked, with a heavy canopy and substantial bedposts. It is signed outside image, in pencil, lower right ‘C. J. Bauer’. Presented, matted in off-white, behind glass, in a wooden frame, wired for hanging.

Condition

- damage to the edges of the frame.
- minor paper discoloration at edge of matting.
