An original 1778 engraving by an unknown artist, titled The Siege of Rhode Island, taken from Mr. Brindley’s House, created on the 25th of August. The print was originally published in the February 1779 edition of The Gentleman’s Magazine, an English publication that ran from 1731 to 1922. The print’s title is printed in its lower margin, and it is unsigned. The piece is matted in white and presented behind glass in a thin metal frame with black finish.

Condition

- to fair. Yellowing and light foxing across, consistent with age. Three heavy vertical creases from previous folding.
