A vintage original 1949 color lithograph advertisement poster featuring an illustration by famed Italian commercial illustrator Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942), promoting Le Thermogène. The product advertised, Le Thermogène, said to help fight coughs, colds, rheumatism and joint pain, was composed of soft cotton wadding treated with capsicum, a blistering agent that is responsible for the product’s activity when applied to any part of the body where heat would be beneficial. This image depicts a clown holding the pillowy product against his lungs, happily breathing out fire as the heating agents work. Signed in plate by the artist by the lower left foot. This piece is not framed, mounted an acid-free archival canvas substrate.
