A color lithograph with halftone shading World War II propaganda poster issued by the National Savings Committee, Scottish Savings Committee and Ulster Savings Committee in 1942, titled More Ships – Come On!, depicting a British bulldog wearing an H.M.S. Victory sailor’s cap. Below, bold printed text reads WAR SAVINGS are Warships… This poster is not framed. Originating in World War I, the War Savings Campaign was revived in November of 1939 when local committees were reorganized. Special drives with strong local activity were organized annually in the war years starting with the National Savings Week of June 1940 and followed by War Weapons Week, Warships Week, Wings for Victory, Salute the Soldier and Thanksgiving Week in subsequent years. By the end of 1945, millions of dollars had been raised.

Condition

- notable creases and abrasions throughout, with discoloration across and moisture stains. Loss to lower left corner.
