An 39-volume set of Honoré de Balzac’s massive multi-volume collection of novels, La Comedie Humaine (‘The Human Comedy’), published in handsome textured cloth by The Robert’s Brothers of Boston in 1896. Separated into six groupings of novels each aimed at capturing a different segment of French society, La Comedie Humaine contains such classics by Balzac as Eugenie Grandet, Pere Goriot and Cousin Bette. The books feature leather title bands to their spines and tissue-paper protected illustrations.
