A sixteen-volume set of The Novels and Stories of Ivan Turgenieff, translated by Isabel F. Hapgood, bound in a handsome textured cloth, and published in 1904 by Charles Scribner’s and Sons of New York. Ivan Turgenev (1818 – 1883) began his career as a poet and had his breakthrough as a prose writer with the charming nature and character sketches in Memoirs of a Sportsman. Turgenev afterwards wrote several classic novels, including First Love, Rudin, Smoke, On the Eve, and Fathers and Sons. The books feature leather title bands to their spines and tissue-paper protected illustrations.
