Herb Williams "Swimville" Crayon Mosaic of Hannah Davis
Item Details
*A signed, large scale crayon mosaic fabricated by American artist, Herb Williams, depicting a Swimsuit Edition Sports Illustrated magazine cover featuring fashion model, Hannah Davis. This six foot by eight foot portrait was created for the Sports Illustrated 2015 Swimsuit edition kick-off party in Nashville, TN. It was created on-site using over 100,000 crayons as a type of ‘crayon mosaic,’ with Hannah Davis herself laying the final crayons. The technique is very similar to pointillism utilizing stacked crayons rather than dots of paint. In this instance, this work of art recreates the cover of the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition magazine. The image depicts the cover model, Hannah Davis, standing confidently with her hands hooked in the band of her black and white patterned bikini bottoms, with windswept hair and a sultry gaze. Behind her, there is the iconic sports illustrated font in grey and white. Williams captures the remaining details of the cover in a variety of colors accurately recreating the image in crayons. This truly unique work of art is presented in a wooden frame with a black painted finish. It is titled and signed in marker to the verso by both Hannah Davis and Herb Williams, dated 2015.
