Pair of Vintage David Kline TWA Offset Lithographic Travel Posters
Item Details
A pair of vintage offset lithographic travel posters for destination spots Rome and Germany by artist David Kline. The Rome poster features a member of the Swiss Guard, designed to protect the Pope, standing in front of multicolored versions of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Colosseum. A jet flies over the word ‘Rome’ to the top of the poster, and the lower portion of the poster presses the viewer to ‘Fly TWA’. The second poster is found to the opposite side of the frame and advertises Germany as its travel target, featuring the Goose Man Fountain and other German structures. The top of the poster reads ‘Germany, Fly TWA Jets’. Both posters are mounted in a double-sided open frame with acrylic glass, made of light colored wood with a natural finish.
Condition
-to poor. Germany poster is in good condition with few areas of paper loss, primarily to lower portion of print. The Rome poster shows significant loss throughout.
