Pablo Picasso Restrike Etching "Pour Robie"
Item Details
A restrike etching titled Pour Robie taken from an original plate after Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). For his friend Robert Godet’s book L’Age de soleil, Picasso redrew an existing drawing on a printing plate, flipping the image so that the signature is backwards. After the limited edition book was created, Godet retained the etching plate, reportedly with Picasso’s permission, and used it to create an unknown number of print runs. It depicts a portrait of minimal lines, with a reverse signature underneath. There is a visible plate mark, especially at the bottom. The print is matted in white, and presented behind glass in a wooden frame, with hanging hardware. On the verso is a Certificate of Authenticity, from the Collector’s Guild Ltd, New York.
