A vintage burled Spanish walnut chest made in North Carolina by The Continental Furniture Co. This ornate chest is made of solid Spanish walnut and features burled walnut veneer. The cabinet rests on four carved baluster column legs on small metal casters. The bottom of the cabinet features two long horizontal drawers with carved baluster sides, burled walnut veneer, and an ornate valenced skirt. The middle of the chest features three smaller horizontal drawers with burled walnut veneer and flanked by free-standing carved baluster columns. The top of the chest features one long horizontal drawer with burled walnut veneer and a carved shield plaque. The top of the chest features a small ridge with carved detail, and the drawers feature hand-carved dovetail construction and ornate brass pulls. A tag is present on the back that reads ‘Hillory Howse Fern.
