Handwoven Borjalu-Style Wool Area Rug

A handwoven wool Borjalu-style area rug. It has a repeated rectilinear tribal patterning in prominent colors of red-orange, cream, shades of green, indigo and black over the field, with small protective amulets and arrow forms. The indigo guard borders sport a running water pattern, flanked by barber pole borders and a principal border in bright red-orange, with hooked ‘x’ and ‘s’ forms and diamond shapes repeating. It has a wide kilim skirt and hand-tied wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.

Condition

- some minor fiber loss to fringe with light separation in some areas.
