Vintage Handwoven Karaja Carpet Runner
Item Details
A vintage handwoven Karaja carpet runner, circa latter half 20th century. It features a bright crimson field populated with a row of alternating large-scale hooked and star medallions in a colorway of indigo, cadet blue, saffron, ivory and ruby, some having defined arrow motifs. The surrounding field has a variety of symbols and floral motifs in the same palette. It has checked barberpole guard borders in two color fields; ivory and bright blue, with checks in mocha brown, red and blue. The principal border has the field crimson, with a rectilinear running water pattern. It has variegated double overcast selvedge and short, natural wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
