A signed original watercolor on paper by artist John L. Eastman. The piece depicts the abstract form of a woman with long flowing purple hair and loose fitting dress; with exaggerated arm and leg. Layered orbs in hues of purple, gold, cream and brown surround her to a black background. The piece is signed and dated ‘9-23-70 John Luke’ and additional wording reads ‘Take a firm grip on the hope that is held out to us. Here we have an anchor for our soul, as sure as it is firm and reaching right thru beyond the veil.’ The piece is double matted, including ivory linen outer mat. Set in a silver tone metal frame. Please see attached link for additional information on the artist. This California artist graduated from UCLA with a degree in graphic arts, with success as a fashion illustrator. He has referred to his work as “beautiful distortion.’
