Original E.T. Hurley Etching

Item Details

A very rare and strong original aquatint etching by well listed and thoroughly loved local hero Edward Timothy Hurley (1869 – 1950). Titled ‘Dorset Street Bridge,’ signed and dated (1926) in the lower right in pencil, edition of three, full margins, plate size 11 3/8 × 9.25, ex – collection of the Cincinnati Enquirer, stamped on the verso of the image.

This aquatint etching is truly magnificent, the age old technique of aquatint has been beautifully harnessed here. Dark and sensuous tones define the outlines of the row houses that typify Cincinnati architecture, around the Dorset St. Bridge, for which this etching happens to be titled. The print is presented in a brilliant wooden frame with gold paint, and single creme textured mat to edge. Framing materials are archival, acid free.
