An original acrylic on fine Strathmore Aquarius paper by contemporary artist Mary Anne Donovan (Ohio/California), titled Subterranean Birds. The painting depicts a row of brightly colored birds on a thin twig balanced at the tip of a deep blue pyramid. The pyramid is situated underground, surrounded by deep red dirt and squirming worms. The painting is matted in white and presented behind acrylic glass in a contemporary wooden frame. Hooks for a hanging wire are attached to the verso, along with a small tag giving the artist’s name and piece’s title.
