Antique Victorian Mourning Hair Wreath
Item Details
An antique Victorian mourning hair wreath. This is a stunning example of nineteenth-century mourning art, made from real human hair, intricately braided and twisted into elaborate flowers. The wreath includes both dark and light-colored hair, accented with a variety of glass beads. The wreath is placed against a cream-colored silk background, with satin rosettes in the four corners. The wreath is presented in an ornate, gilded plaster and wood antique shadow box frame. The frame retains its original oil cloth backing, but has been fitted with modern hanging wires to the verso. No maker’s marks.
