A set of six fairy tale illustration prints by Frank Szasz. These offset lithographs feature scenes from ‘Tom Thumb,’ ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears,’ ‘Jack and the Bean Stalk,’ ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,’ ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ and ‘Pinocchio’ as part of Fairy Tale Pictures from Penn Prints, 1959.
Frank Szasz (1925-1995) was born in Hungary, but forced into an Axis labor camp in 1944. After escaping with the help of the Jewish underground, he used his artistic talents to help forge identification papers for other Jews. He was later captured and again forced into a labor camp in the Soviet Union, escaping yet again, and migrating to the United States in 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution. He is best known for his iconic paintings of twentieth century political, social, and religious figures.
