"Fast Freighter Rosalinda at the Pier" Original Oil by Joseph Wilhelm

An original oil painting on panel titled Fast Freighter Rosalinda at the Pier by renown marine artist Joseph Wilhelm (American, 1923-2003), signed lower left. The painting very realistically depicts the freighter and tug boats with great attention paid to all the details. A label affixed to the back indicates the painting was exhibited at the University Club in Cincinnati in 1994.

Joe Wilhelm, a native of New Orleans, began his fascination with ships on the Mississippi river at an early age and became a premiere model ship builder who didn’t turn to painting until the age of 50. The self-taught artist painstakingly records every detail with a keen sense of proportion and scale. Wilhelm’s paintings have graced many magazine covers and books, his work can be found in numerous collections both private and public.

Condition

The painting is in very good condition, the frame has some finish loss at the edges.
