Large Handwoven Sarouk Room Rug
Item Details
A large, hand knotted Sarouk room rug, likely Fereghan. It has an ornately populated center field in carmine red, featuring vase forms and large, dense sprays of open flower blossoms with split and sickle leaves in a variety of types, in a palette of pale indigo, shades of moss and grass green, deep indigo blue-black, taupe, salmon, ruby, and cherry, with accents in pale blue. A large central pendant medallion features in the center, and is has intricate spandrels in complementary colors with large lotus flowers and rosettes. The ivory floral borders flank the principal turle border on an indigo field. A running water border and a carnation border feature as a frame to the field. Each end has a short natural warp fringe. Unmarked.
