Erté "Pillow Swing" Signed Serigraph

Item Details

A limited edition serigraph ‘Pillow Swing’ by Erté (Russian, 1892-1900). A woman in a turquoise gown and headband is standing in front of a gold swing with black and silver cushions, and gold tassels. Her arms are outstretched, and show the drape of the flowing sleeves of her dress. Her curled black hair and bright red lips stand out against her pale skin. The piece is signed by the artist, and numbered 59/300. The print is matted in white and gold, and framed in black.
Erté was born Roman Petrovich Tyrtov, to a distinguished military family in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 1910 he would move to Paris and change his name to avoid embarrassing his family so he could work as an artist. Erté would go onto an illustrious career as a costume, set designer, artist and illustrator working on The Follies Bergère, The Ziegfeld Follies and for publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Ladies Home Journal, Cosmopolitan and Vogue.
