An original watercolor landscape painting on paper by well-listed American artist Grace Russell Raymond (Kansas/Ohio/District of Columbia, 1876 – 1967), circa 1930. The image depicts a picturesque dirt path lined with birch trees during late fall, their leaves carpeting the sides of the road as the sun sets on the horizon. Artist signature is signed to the lower right. The painting is mounted behind antique glass in a wood frame with cast gesso applique and a gold tone finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso. A well-rounded student of art, Raymond studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, in New York at the School of Applied Design and the Metropolitan Art School, at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, in Paris during the summers of 1923 – 1925, in Rome during the summers of 1927- 1933, Belgium, Mexico, and at the Heatherleys School of Fine Art in London.
