An antique Russian copper five kopeks coin. The cypher stands for Ekaterina II Imperatritsa (in Russian-also known as Catherine II). Some copper five kopek coins from this period come from the Kolyvan Mint in Siberia and are distinguished by their dark chocolate color. At the time it was minted, in 1779, the weight of the copper was equal to the value of five kopeks in silver. The dimensions of the copper coins changed as their value relative to silver changed.
