A stone lithograph titled Japanese Doll, printed in a single color on rice paper by Edna Hibel (1917-2014). Illustrated is a Japanese female figure in a traditional gown, numbered in the lower margin 21/28 as part of series III which dates the lithograph to 1976. The image is mounted on a deep brown mat to exhibit the deckled edges then presented under glass in a carved faux bamboo wood frame.

Edna Hibel grew up in Boston, graduating from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1939. After studying in Mexico on a fellowship, she returned to Boston where at the age of 23, Edna was one of the youngest artists to have her work established in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
