Herbert Barbee Plaster Bust of James W. McLaughlin

A bust of James W. McLaughlin (Cincinnati architect 1834 – 1923). This plaster bust was sculpted by Herbert Barbee (1848 – 1936) and is presented atop an antique wood inlay designed stand. This plaster copy sculpture is signed and dated 1886. The original marble version residing in the Cincinnati Art Museum. James W. McLaughlin was the architect who design the original museum building and Cincinnati’s Zoological Gardens, as well as the Moorish Revival Plum Street Temple.
