An original oil painting on canvas by listed artist Charles Meurer (1865-1955). The work depicts a shepherdess with her sheep in a pastoral landscape. This early 20th century piece is signed ‘A. Meurer’ to the lower right corner. Presented in a wooden frame with gold toned appliqué featuring fleur-de-lis and foliate details. Ready to hang.

Germany born, Meurer settled in Terrace Park, OH founding the trompe l’oeil style in America. Many of his works depict barnyard scenes. He also created landscapes and hunting scenes.
