Late 19th Early 20th Century Charles Meurer Oil Painting

A late 19th or early 20th century, Charles Meurer (1865-1955) oil painting on canvas. This scene depicts an autumn landscape, with sheep grazing peacefully in a field. Signed in the lower right corner, and housed in an ornate gold gilt frame, which is further protected by a custom, glass covered shadow box.

Germany born, Meurer settled in Terrace Park, OH founding the trompe l’oeil style in America. Many of his works depict barnyard scenes. He also created landscapes and hunting scenes.

Condition

-Good original condition. Specially housed in a black glass shadow box over frame and painting. Please inspect photographs for condition.
