Antique Italian Renaissance Revival Lion's Head Armchair
Item Details
An antique Italian Renaissance Revival lion’s head chair. This piece features a gracefully carved frame of solid mahogany with its original lacquer finish, and it was upholstered by Workroom Services in Worthington, Ohio in red and gold fabric on the outside panels, tufted backrest, inner armrests and seat. The the dome topped back is flanked by animal heads over foliate inlays made from walnut, rosewood and mother-of-pearl, and the front of each armrest bears a carved lion’s head. This piece sits on two cabriole front legs and two square-cut rear legs, and it matches item 16COL057-046.
