A silver gelatin print titled Three Men of Merit by American visual sociologist and photographer John Benton-Harris (b. 1939), created in 1987. The photograph depicts a man with a tuba sitting in front of a wall hanging of three portraits of men of merit. Presented behind acrylic glass in a black wooden frame with thick white matting and a wire to the verso.
Benton-Harris, born in New York City, has resided in England since 1965 where he first worked for London Life Magazine. He studied under Alexey Brodovitch at his legendary ‘Design Laboratory’ at Richard Avedon’s studio in 1962. He has works in collection in the US and UK, and has worked as a curator in various establishments.
