An early 19th century portrait. The American school portrait, dating to the first quarter of the 19th century, depicts a woman in period clothes; wearing a black dress with a lace collar, and a brooch with matching earrings. She has curled dark hair and a pink ribbon draped around her neck. The piece is not signed. The canvas has been repaired, laid down on board and is housed in a carved gold-tone and painted wood frame.

Condition

Good. Wear consistent with age and use. The painting has been repaired with inpainting and has been laid down on board.
