Robert Rauschenberg Signed Limited Ed. Talking Heads LP
Item Details
A highly collectible limited edition promotional copy of Talking Head’s 1983 release Speaking in Tongues. The clear record includes three semi-transparent overlays printed in Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink that were designed and produced by extremely well-listed American Modernist Robert Rauschenberg (1925 – 2008) for this limited edition release. When spun together, an image becomes visible; this work became the inspiration for several of Rauschenberg’s future projects. 50,000 of these overlayed LPs were released, and only a few of these are known to have been signed. The once-clear plastic casing (it has yellowed with age) has been signed in black ink by the artist to the lower center. The record in its case is double-matted behind pink and yellow and is presented behind Museum Image Perfect UV protective glass in a wooden frame with black finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- case is yellowed with age, consistent with other existing copies of this album.
