A set of colorful plates and ceramic birds. The set includes three glazed and hand-painted china plates, painted with brilliant colors in lively patterns. A plate marked ‘Adams England’ is titled ‘Snowed Up Ruffed Grouse in Winter’, along with ‘Engravings for the People Expressely by N. Currier Lithographer’, and depicts a winter forest scene of grouse in a tree and on the ground, with holly and mistletoe around the rim. A blue, green, and rust red plate is painted in a folk art design with flowers, leaves and a deer in the center (marked ‘Hand Painted Jerusalem’ to the underside.) A white plate with a large red hand-painted flower is marked ‘Southern Potteries, Inc. – Blue Ridge Hand Painted Underglaze’. There is a pair of vintage bud vases, shaped like birds, and hand-painted in satin-matte glazes, marked ‘Made in Czecho Slovakia’ to the undersides. A small, glazed and hand-painted earthenware bird figurine is unmarked.
