A vintage folio of William Blake Paradise Lost illustrations, circa 1947. The folio published by Studio Publications include ten loose leaves inside a brown paper wrap; consists of one page of text and nine plates. The letterpress halftone prints are based on paintings by Blake, currently in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
William Blake (English, 1757 – 1827) was a noted poet, painter, and printmaker. His works in poetry and the visual arts are now considered to be at the apex of the Romantic Age. Blake illustrated John Milton’s Paradise Lost starting in 1807 and completed many versions with slight variations.
Condition
Some wear to paper wrapper, some darkening to the paper at the edges.
