A double sided lithograph page of Poemes de Charles d’Orleans by Henri Matisse. This framed piece features line drawn fleur-de-lis on the left with pink highlights and a Rondeau poem on the right. Henri Matisse (1869-1954) found inspiration in poetry, including the work of Charles d’Orléans, to whom he pays homage in his 1950 portfolio Poemes de Charles d’Orléans. D’Orléans, member of the French royal family of Valois, has been called the father of French lyric poetry. Page is double sided with blue fleur-de-lis on the back and continuation of the poem from the front. Piece is framed in a dark wooden frame.
