A signed June Bellamy oil on wood titled Gli Uccelli. (translation: Birds) This original oil by June Bellamy (Burma / Italy, 1923 – ) abstractly depicts two birds amid lush foliage. It is painted in layers of transparent hues of predominately blues and greens with bright red accents. It is presented in a carved wood frame with a blue hand rubbed finish. A bracket is attached to the verso for hanging. Interestingly, this work was printed on a board that previously held a rejected painting by Bellamy’s artist friend Lazzaro Donati (although painted over, the original title information can be seen to the verso.) This painting was acquired directly from the artist. Two of Donati’s works can be seen in item numbers 16CIN290-002 and 16CIN290-012.
