An intricately etched Nigerian gourd shaker and African Goma mask. Features a delicately carved gourd shaker with floral motif and bands of geometric borders. Also includes an African Goma mask from the Democratic Republic of the Congo featuring incised geometric triangle border. Goma masks were created to represent the spirit of ancestors, the wearers of which were believed to be possessed by that same spirit.
