A signed Lazzaro Donati oil painting titled La Dama Dalla Colonna which translates to The Lady from Colonna. This original oil painting on board by Lazzaro Donati (Italy, 1926 – 1977) depicts a portrait of a woman rendered in soft hues of blues and greens with hints of red and golden yellow. Expressive black lines add detail. It is presented in a dimensional mat in a carved wood frame with antique gold tone finish. It is signed in the painting to the lower right. It is also inscribed, dated, and titled by the artist to the verso. This work was acquired directly from the artist at his studio in Florence, Italy. Donati was one of the foremost Italian painters of the twentieth century. His work exemplifies his mastery of light and color; translucent layers of paint appear to shimmer like jewels in many of his works.
