Vintage Belber Trunk & Bag Co. U.S. Military Service Footlocker

Item Details

A vintage military footlocker, made of metal with reinforced rivited rims, and reinforced corners. The front has two latches and central lock latch, and there are two hinges on back. This trunk did have leather side handles, which are now missing. It opens to an empty storage area with metal shelf supports to either side (may have had a tray inside at some point; no longer there). The front lock reads ‘X161 / USA / EXCELSIOR / STANFORD / CONN.’ Metal plaque on top reads ‘CONT. NO.W-199- Q.M- 17692 / CHICAGO Q.M DEPOT / SEP 28 1989 / SEP 2 790 / THE BELBER TRUNK & BAG CO.’ The name stenciled on top, front and left side reads: ROY H MOORE / MAJOR 0-16085150. Stenciled in black: RE-7887-P on top, front, and right side.

Condition

- to fair. Leather side handles missing; numerous dents and dings consistent with age and use. Remnants of adhesive stickers on exterior.
