Robert Rauschenberg 1969 Signed Stone Lithograph "Earth Tie"

Item Details

A 1969 signed limited edition stone lithograph titled Earth Tie by well-listed and world-renowned American Neo-Dadaist, Robert Rauschenberg (New York/Florida, 1925 – 2008). Rauschenberg famously broke the barrier between sculpture and painting with his sculptural painting collages which he referred to as ‘combines.’ Rauschenberg famously taught at the Black Mountain School in North Carolina and is one of the most important artists of the last one hundred years. This piece is part of Rauschenberg’s Stoned Moon series, a body of work comprised of thirty-three lithographs printed at Gemini GEL, intended to be a celebration of man’s peaceful exploration of space as a ‘responsive, responsible collaboration between man and technology’. The Stone Moon series was Rauschenberg’s response to his witnessing of the Apollo 11 launch, the shuttle that placed man on the moon. Artist signature is signed in pencil to the lower right, where the print is dated and numbered edition 35 of 48. The print is mounted behind complementing double mat, under acrylic glass, in a rounded metal frame with gunmetal finish. A Fay Gold Gallery label of Atlanta, Georgia is attached to the verso, as well as a hanging wire.
