Antique Mahogany Linen Press

Item Details

An antique mahogany central linen press. Adorned in a Renaissance revival style, it features heavily carved and moulded doors and panels, with barley-twist pilasters to the sides, and chip carving to apron. Designed in three sections, it has a beveled top section having two drawers, over a central section having two doors, and repeating two drawers to lower section mirroring the applied carved ornamentation of the top section. The brass hardware offers ornate pierced brass scroll bails and brass escutcheons. Drawers have hand cut dovetails, and apron has fan-shaped spandrels.

Condition

- to fair. Cosmetic damage consistent with age and use. One drawer handle plate is loose. Discoloration to top (stains). Hole punched in back, probably for cords. Chunk out of back top corner of piece. Escutcheon on lower drawer is missing. Key not present.
